Homosexuality does not keep a person out of heaven. There is only one thing that stops anyone from going to heaven. The primary purpose of salvation (reconciliation to God) is for the soul purpose of expanding God through the betterment of people by faith in Christ. Any ideas, attitudes, or efforts to limit God’s ability to save anyone’s eternal life are the most anti-God things that anyone can do. The secondary, and no less important, purpose of salvation is to provide thriving eternal life to people who believe. We must believe that God provided reconciliation for every person, whether we accept it or not, and simply choose to accept it for our self.

Definitive homosexuality is a tendency to direct sexual desire toward another person of the same sex and does not include violence, destruction, or nonconsensual behavior. Homosexuality has been categorically condemned by many religions, cultures, and Christian denominations by assuming inclusion of violence, destruction, and/or nonconsensual behavior. The problem with this is that the Christian Bible goes to extremes to describe the judgment and condemnation God will put on people, even believers, who judge and condemn others. It goes so far as to condemn even putting a stumbling block, or discouraging, anyone from having hope and faith in God’s reconciliation for them.

Is homosexuality “wrong”? The only difference between right and wrong is to be for God or against God. God is a responsible personality and, therefore, no one can go to heaven or hell by mistake. Every person makes a clear decision whether they believe God has provided reconciliation “for themselves” and whether they accept it or not. Simply believing is all it takes to be saved and God accepts us as we are without any other requirements. In fact, no additional requirements could possibly be successful, for nothing we can do is worthy of reconciling anyone to God.

But what about Bible verses people have used against homosexuals? Every human being, including Christians, is blatantly unworthy. Anyone who claims to be more worthy, or that anyone is less likely to go to heaven than them, is committing the blatant sin of omitting part of the Word of God by limiting God’s place of dominance over all existence.

Homosexuality – In the spirit and search of scriptural understanding, the basis of this discussion series is not to promote or condemn homosexuality, but to point out truth

- Do you know someone who is gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning, or a cross-dresser?

- Do you know any people of a diverse sexual orientation who claim to be Christian?

- Do you know any of these people, but not well enough to discuss religious affiliation with them?

- Do you know any of these people who believe, or have believed at one time, that they cannot go to heaven because of their sexual orientation?

I have worked in several industries with numerous diversities of people. One of the most unbelievable coworkers was one of the most conservative. This was a very kind person who would do anything they could for anyone, but traditional Christian beliefs and assumptions blinded this person to the amount of homosexual coworkers around us.

Multiple levels of management over and around us, and numerous fellow coworkers were homosexual. It would generally surprise me when my conservative friend would ask if I knew that yet another coworker is not heterosexual in one way or another. If I knew that the person didn’t mind anyone knowing, I would say “yes I do”.

Throughout the many years we worked together this scenario played on. Just to know that anyone could be as blinded by religious opinions as by anything else was enough to help me realize how delicate such subjects as homosexuality are. It is not God who is naive or insufficient for saving every person for eternity, it is human limitations of God that idealizes that our lives are not acceptable to God.

The general belief among people who are not of faith is that they are unacceptable to God in their current state. This idea was built on traditionally judgmental Christian’s perspectives, not the Word of God. But God says, many times over, not to judge others, that Jesus did not come to condemn people, and to come as you are; judgment is God’s job and scripture condemns people trying to take God’s responsibilities on themselves. You would think that judging others would save those who judge more. Much to the contrary, the Bible makes no such insinuation.

What will our answer be when entering heaven?

I’ve heard ministers ask many audiences what their answer will be when God asks them why He should let them into His heaven. But I ask you now, whoever you are, what will your answer be when God asks if you condemned another human being and encouraged their guilt, causing them to condemn themselves unnecessarily? What if God just happens to be big enough to save them even if you aren’t?

What if God isn’t limited to reconciling peoples religious traditions. What if God is big enough to reach out and accept anyone? Could an acclaimed Christian have been the stumbling block that catapulted someone’s destiny to eternal separation from God? Can God reconcile someone whose ideals limit Him from reconciling someone else?

Do you believe that someone else is too unworthy? Or maybe you feel too unworthy for God to accept you? Either of these beliefs are extremely naïve of God’s love for all. Availability for salvation requires the opposite of worthiness. God cannot save anyone who tries to excuse their own unworthiness. No one is worthy and unworthiness qualifies us for God’s acceptance.

RECONCILIATION
HOMOSEXUALITY AND THE BIBLE SERIES
Jesus didn’t turn people away. He didn’t judge or condemn them, He made extra efforts to care for the least likely to reach, and He saved everyone as we are without expectations to do anything to save ourselves. So, why should we be any different? Why should we judge or condemn? Why should we exclude anyone from the love of Christ in us? Why should we expect anyone to do anything worthy of salvation? We can’t, that’s why we reach out to everyone and leave the rest to Him.
