My Son Is Gay
let the only one who knows the heart be the judge

Original Post
Just recently my son Bobby came out to me. I had been worried for awhile. His teachers said most of his grades were slipping and he seemed depressed and withdrawn.
Bobby said he'd been hiding it for awhile because he was afraid I would reject him. I sat him down and told him that I loved him and that God loved him, but that his salvation was in danger if he did not resist his unnatural tempations. I told him how being gay would mean he would live a shorter life, and that if he couldnt change his orientation he could be celibate like most the ex-gays are. He started crying saying something along the lines of "I knew you wouldnt understand! You're just like everyone else!" before running to his room and slamming the door.
What did I do wrong? I dont want to lose my son, but I fear I already have. I talked it over with his therapist, who had the ludicrous idea that homosexuality was unchangable and that trying to repress could lead to lots of psychological damage (I've dropped him and will try to be finding another therapist with more moral beliefs). I wouldnt be surprised if he's the one who's feeding my son all the homosexual propaganda about how its 'ok' to be gay. That, or how homosexuality has engulfed the media, making it seem 'cool' and 'hip' and how they were just another oppressed minority. You didnt have to worry about seeing two men making out on tv at my age! I dont want to sound like a fanatic, but Im worried what other effects will come out of this increasingly secular, immoral society obsessed with filth.
Am I too late? Or is it possible to save my son?

There is a majority of traditional Christians who are riding the band-wagon that people go to hell for anything they do that the traditional Christians consider wrong. It's like they believe in an unpredictable, unknowable, undependable god and can be saved or unsaved by "accident". There are religions that state that their god is unpredictable, unknowable, and undependable; but if any god is going to qualify as the true God then He has the ability to be predictable, knowable, and dependable.
The reason I'm bringing this up is because if the Christian Bible is to be taken literally or true, as Christians generally say it is, then shouldn't anyone who believes the Christian way of salvation be considered a Christian. The Christian Bible says that "whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16) and it goes on to say that "God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world" (John 3:17).
And what about Christians that try to force their faith and beliefs on others, do they happen to be able to cut the verse out of the Bible that says "If anyone hears my words, and does not believe, I do not judge them: because I did not come to judge the world, but to reconcile the world to God." (John 12:47) Not honestly without admitting that they do not believe every word of the Bible is true.
And if the Christian Bible is true then how can a human being who claims to be a Christian judge anyone without making their disbelief of the Christian Bible bogus because it says "There is only one personality who is the source of direction and can reconcile or reject anyone. Who are you to think that you can corectly judge anyone else? (James 4:12)
Are condemning Christians not disobeying the Christian Bible by making it difficult to believe in their God: "Be careful that the beliefs of your faith do not become stumbling blocks to anyone else, in any way." (I Corinthians 8:9)
Or maybe the Christians trying to express their faith in their scriptural text by the Almighty want to be judged themselves: "Judge not, so that you will not be judged." (Matthew 7:1) Somehow I doubt that they are trying to serve God for the purpose of being judged to hell by Him.

There is a place in the Bible where a believer can believe that they are going to live eternally in heaven but will be kicked out almost as soon as they get there. So many Christians claim to believe the Bible but do the opposite of the teachings of Jesus. This really goes along with Rev 22:19: "And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book". The Gospel of salvation is the book that contains this prophecy and people constantly, even without acknowledging it, hold people back from salvation by judging and condemning them.
According to the Bible that Christians claim to live by, It appears that God has a big eraser that will remove people's names from the book of life, even after they have already entered the gates of heaven and arrive at their great white throne judgment for shorting the gospel of forgiveness from people who need it and do not make it to heaven because of being convinced by Christians that they can not be saved.
There is plenty of materieal here for nonbelievers to use, and if Christians are going to believe their own Bible then they need to accept the faith of anyone who believes and without condemnation as well as not use uncertainty, pressure, or scare tactics to try to manipulate people to believe. I am a believer and encourage strong faith without manipulation or condemnation. (see www.unidiversal.com)

-Click to enter this forum topic to view all of the posts from beginning to end and see the variety of opinions. This young man ended his own life before it was over. Religious and social stresses can not overcome homosexuality. Only faith in a loving God can give anyone the personal pride and respect to experience life to and through eternity.
